Sway bar question

#1 Post by RykerChase » Thu Jan 09, 2020 4:19 pm

New to the forums, and I came here looking for answers, since I haven't been able to find one online just yet.

I just installed a sway bar, to help with the handling (as we all know, Rykers are all over the place). It's helped TREMENDOUSLY up to about 50mph, then she starts to get a little dance again. It's nothing like it was, but she still jumps around. My question is, how many sway bars can you put on the Ryker? The guy at my dealership said two, but he was a parts guy and I have heard a lot of people say just one.

Was hoping to get a definitive answer from you all. Sorry for posting this here, I'm still a "newbie" and it won't let me post anywhere else. Thanks for all the help!

I installed the BajaRon one and there is no dancing over 50mph. Perhaps something else needs to be looked at?

I installed the OEM sway bar, and it made it a new bike. That, along with installing the SlingMods windshield, and I am a very happy camper now. It’s a completely different bike. It doesn’t track, dance, jump...anything now. Installing the aluminum sway bar links today, getting rid of those plastic pieces of crap.

Definitely worth the money!

To Excelsior - reference BajaRon's sway bar. Did you have any issues installing white bushing blocks to the sway bar and to the frame channel? Tips?

No issues at all except for reaching the bolts that secure the 'black' bushing blocks to the frame. And afterwords I was told just to put the bolts in the opposite way to resolve my issue. There were no white parts on mine.

Interesting. Mine came with 'white' plastic bushing blocks...twice! Reference Installation instruction step #13. The blocks binds, gets stuck (too tight), not lining up correctly with sway bar. Tried banging with rubber mallet but to no avail.

I might recommend calling the number on the card that was included in the package. Ron might be the best insight to helping . I also know there are a few different version of the install out there. See if this one might be better for you.

How was the install of the OE sway bar? My local dealer stated they attempted to install one once and after 14 hours their 'master' tech was unable to do so and now they refuse to install.
