Ryker fuel pump $400

#1 Post by vmax3740 » Mon Apr 29, 2019 11:34 am

I've been gasing up at about 130 to 140 mi. It usualy takes about 4 gal. That leaves about a gal. in the tank. I hope thats enough to keep the pump cool.

At $400 bucks I want to make it last !!

LOL. The system has been strategically designed and tested. Unless you completely run it bone dry out of fuel and engine quits & you pull over and leave the key on(/in) and run the fuel pump for hours for no reason, you have nothing to worry about. :D

I think everything shuts off automatically anyways, shortly after engine stops running.

The experts say never run your car low on fuel for that reason. What makes you think the Ryker fuel pump is any different ?

Oh well , do it your way and I'll do it mine .

It is either an "old wives tale" or 'urban legend" or something that might have been true 50 years ago.

There is a huge difference between LOW and EMPTY anyways.

I've run many vehicles over the years low, whereby a refill took 1/2 to 1 gallon MORE that the tank was rated at, and I've run completely out of fuel (gas & diesel) many times. NEVER had a fuel pump fail.

I think what they REALLY have said, is that over several/many years, there "may" be an accumulation of water in your tank, and if you COMPLETELY run out of fuel, water will start getting in your engine, potentially causing problems.

I think the same phantom people have said: "don't fuel up at a station right after the tanker truck filled the station's tank, because crud in the tank was all stirred up, and you will get crud in your tank". No, that IS what fuel filters are for!
