Limp Mode-VSS

#1 Post by erwluz » Sun Apr 07, 2019 1:07 pm

Hi everyone,
Im a ryker rally owner since Feb 2019. The dealership said I am the first one on the road in Vancouver BC, Canada. Love it. Just clocked 900kms. however, for the 2nd time now, Limp Mode, engine light off, and VSS showed in the screen. engine is still running. I shut of the engine and restarted again. Any one had the same occurance on their ryker?. Havent called the dealership yet on this issue.
Thanks
Erwin

I've had mine for 3 weeks now and have not had that happen.

Are you resting your foot on the brake pedal while you're riding? The manual says that could put it in limp mode.

Some have reported the reverse lever not being pushed all the way forward has put them in limp mode.

The foot on the break pedal definitely sets off the limp mode. As a new rider, I rode home cautiously resting my foot on the pedal. 15 miles in, it triggered the vss and limp mode.

I had the same problem, mine would come on and then ounce I turned it off it went away for a little, it got to the point though where it wasn’t turning off. Took it to dealer, turned out to be a wheel sensor. Completely covered by warranty. I think the sensor are prone to failing fairly easy

It has happened to my Ryker 900 3 times so far. All times wheel speed sensor. It seems prone to breaking or coming loose.

Completely random advertising plug on a forum. Now I know what places to never visit. Thanks. I build and share lists of crap companies like this.
