Fuel Pump

#1 Post by asraz » Tue Mar 17, 2020 7:16 am

I picked up my 2020 Ryker Rally on March 7, gas gauge read 3/4 full. After 57 miles, it read Low Fuel, so I stopped for gas, followed the 5 seconds, wait, repeat instructions and couldn't get more than .857 of a gallon into the tank. Took it to the dealer & they said it's something within the fuel pump and it needs a new one from Canada, 7 - 10 biz days to receive. This is a brand new vehicle. Has anyone heard of a fuel pump problem with these vehicles? Have to say, I'm not having warm, fuzzy feelings about this vehicle I was so excited to get...Many thanks!

Hey buddy. My fuel gauge on my 2020 ryker never worked since day one. It is a pita, but Im' dealing with it for now. It pretty much always reads "full". My range was working for awhile, but I couldn't rely on it. I think the problem is the "fuel sending unit". I will have replaced under warranty when convenient for me. Otherwise I love the machine, no other problems at 750 miles.
Good luck.

It says in manual that fuel gauge will show full for long time, and distance to empty is more accurate.Seems like when fuel gauge starts to move from full , u really have half of tank left.

My wifes 2020 600cc i thought was doing the same thing. I even went out and syphoned gas from the tank and it did finally go down. Reason for thinking that was my 2019 900cc i had to stop for gas and hers was still reading full. So i took mine off sport mode and seems to be closer to the fuel mileage that she is getting. The problem i see is they seem to stay on full forever but once they start going down the bars drop like a rock.

I see the same on my Rally, full all bars for a long time, then they drop quickly. I'm putting it down to gas in tank above the expected full level. ( poor design on the float sensor). To be honest I get same type of issue on my car , just not as severe.

Was just talking to wifey about our conversation here and she did remind me when her low fuel light did come on that we could only squeeze right at 4 gallons of fuel in it. So that should mean there is still 1 gallon in the tank, but don't hold me to it...lol

The fuel gage is a long standing issue going back to initial release in 2019. The fuel tank is sort of a "jug" shaped container. The guage reads full until the tank is about 2/3 to 1/2 full. It then drops quickly as it is a smallish tank. Best to use the MILES REMAINING setting which is fairly accurate. Low fuel light comes on with about one gallon / 34 miles left in the tank per my 2019 RALLY.
