"Clacking" Sound ?

#1 Post by ellpee » Sat Mar 21, 2020 9:54 am

I'm just new to my Ryker 600, 2500 mi total/about 500 by me. I'm noticing a "clacking" noise from the area of the rear wheel when first accelerating from a standstill -- not every time, but more often than not. It doesn't continue, just one or two clacks, then something or other engages back there and off I go. Does anybody know if that's a normal thing? I plan to ask about it at my "first inspection" in the next few weeks, but in the meantime, any advice from here is welcome. I've had two other CVT scoots and we have a CVT Honda, and have noticed nothing similar there.

That's actually considered normal. It was very disconcerting to me until I read here that everyone's ryker does the same thing. I believe it's slop in the drivetrain. Hope that answer helps. Have fun and stay Corona free!!!

I rode a 600 and a 900 for my MSF class and they both made the same sound. But it will not hurt to ask about it at your "first inspection".
