passenger comfort?

#1 Post by snayl135 » Fri Nov 29, 2019 8:38 am

Wondering what the passenger experience is like on the Ryker? I'm looking to purchase a Ryker soon and will be doing a lot of 2-up riding. My wife is about 130 lbs, I'm around 190. The passenger seat does not look so comfy even with the backrest. Spyders are a bit out of my price range and I really like the simplicity of the Ryker. So the Rally looks interesting due to better shocks and more power for 2-up riding.

Anybody have any experience with passenger comfort on this machine?

Thanks!snayl135

My wife hates riding on the back even with the Comfort Seat and Tall backrest. Not a great 2 up machine by any stretch in my opinion. Other's have had excellent results riding 2 up.

I changed both seats a little - 2up we have 300 lbs together) - stille very happy with the Ryker, much better handling than our old Spyders !!

My wife and I are about the same weight as you and your's. I have the 600 with the 2-up spring and tall backrest installed. My wife says she is comfortable.

I Put a standard passenger seat on my 600 with the short backrest. Took my wife for a short ride around the neighborhood and she is afraid that she will fall off if we were to go out on the highway and take curves at any speed. Of course she is use to riding on the back of my old Honda Goldwing with great comfort and safety. As I read in a motorcycle magazine one time when they were rating the pillion seat on a sporty motorcycle - "its a passenger seat that a girlfriend would ride on, but a wife wouldn't." Words of wisdom.

just an update. I purchased the rally and have the comfort seat, comfort passenger seat with tall backrest. I think the tall back rest and comfort passenger seat make a difference. My wife and I took it out on the highway and on some back roads.. she enjoys the ride. Longest ride so far is about 4 hours and so far so good. only reason we rested during that stint was due to the cold
