Newbie rider looking for tips?

Hi all

I’m new to the forum. I’m going to get a new ryker rally soon and to be honest I’m absolutely terrified. I live in Rotorua NZ and the closet dealer is an hour away. The roads here are narrow and very windy, the speed limit is 100 km/h max. I haven’t rode motorcycles only a 50cc moped when I was on my car learners. In NZ you only need a full car license to ride a ryker. Now my question is for any tips? How does the steering work and feel? Speed going around corners? And any other things that could help me getting home? Hopefully in one piece haha

I also have a rally , and it is great fun. It is like driving a go kart or atv on the road, more then a motorcycle so you will be fine. It is very easy to ride and the stability control will kick in if going to fast into corner.Just get one, you will be glad you did and put it into sport mode and enjoy smoking up the back tire ,lol.

Hey Regan, I don't know what your skills are or how old you are, but the Ryker is very easy to ride. It does take quite a bit of effort and upper body strength though. You don't have to lean necessarily on the ryker, but you must brace yourself because of the forces it puts on you. I recommend keeping your knees tight against the tank, but not painfully so. Left turn, left knee pressure, right turn, right knee pressure. Push AND pull on the handlebars to divide the force between both arms instead of just one, and most importantly, have a BLAST! It will be unavoidable.
Enjoy and good luck!
Johnny

I am looking into buying either a Ryker or Spyder but I'm curious as to why so many are for sale?

I have questioned this as well. For my the 900 was fun to drive when was just me. I tried with my son and daughters and it was not enjoyable especially for them even when I got the comfort passenger seat. So, after my daughter totaled my Ryker 900 I am going to upgrade to the Spyder RT.

For my youngest daughter it is a safety issue. She is six and legs dangle which is a concern because she easily get her lag entangled with the rear tire on the right side. No issue like that on the Spyder.
