fuel pump noise

#1 Post by 67RYKER » Fri May 31, 2019 7:38 am

HELLO ALL
I'm new to this site and posting. Has anyone had a load noise or squeal come from there fuel pump when the Ryker has been running in the heat for a while? The next time I start it it's not there, just after a long run in the heat.

Most likely U hear vapor vent. The heat causes the fuel to expand.

I have a 600 with 3300 miles and my fuel pump (the same whine/whirring sound when you first press the starter button to wake her up) occasionally does that as well. sometimes the sound stops and other times it continues to whine until I turn it off. Doesn't seem to affect anything performance wise so I just chalk it up to another quirky noise produced by the engine.

That sounds like the same issue I'm having. My noise sounds electronic. It's like a high-pitched dial tone.
It seems to come and go, but it is pretty loud. I can hear it if I'm doing less than 25 mph. Anything above that and the engine & wind noise drown it out.
It's really annoying and actually kinda painful, as I am sensitive to high pitch sounds.

If this is vapor vent, would a gas cap have something to do with it?

I just started having the same issue today. Sounds like the same sound you hear prior to ignition, and I’d compare it to the annoying sound tv’s make when they play the national Emergency broadcast system. Very high pitched and irritating. Has anyone found a fix or have any suggestions?

My 900 Ryker Rally started doing this today. Do I need to be concerned? Is there a fix? Thanks for any help!
